Daniel Gilstrap DDS
After completing his undergraduate studies at Drury University, Dr. Daniel Gilstrap earned his DDS degree from the UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating Summa Cum Laude in the top 5% of his class. His excellence as a student of dentistry landed him on the Dean’s List all four years while he was in dental school.
Dr. Gilstrap’s commitment to lifelong learning continues. He is a certified provider for both Invisalign and Inman Aligner. He is also a member of several professional associations:
- The American Dental Association
- The Kansas Dental Association
- The Academy of General Dentistry
He also keeps up with developments in dentistry through the DentalTown Online Dental Community.
Dr. Gilstrap was born and raised in Kansas City, and he grew up immersed in sports and his church community. He is passionate about his call to service and has a deep personal belief in giving back. In 2010, Dr. Gilstrap made a mission trip to Africa, where he provided dentistry to those in need. Starting in 2012, he established a dental program through a charity clinic in Raytown, MO to meet the dental needs of the needy. On Fridays, Dr Gilstrap works to meet the needs of yet another under-served population by delivering mobile dental care to patients in Assisted Living and Memory Care facilities.
As a dentist, Dr. Gilstrap loves the process of restoration – removing the bad and replacing it with the good. He treats every case, even the smallest filling, as a little work of art. He appreciates the fact that his work allows people to smile again with confidence, and he’s excited every time a patient who was once fearful or anxious has a positive experience and changes their expectations about what dentistry can be.
“Dentistry is, by its nature, very up close and personal, and I enjoy the aspect of really getting to know my patients.”
Dr. Gilstrap is the oldest of four. He and his wife Sarah have three young sons and a dog named Rooney. Dr. Gilstrap enjoys gourmet cooking, snow skiing, rooting for Kansas City sports teams, and traveling to see friends and family.
